The Canon EOS 300 is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was presented to the world in 1999. It is the successor of the Canon EOS 500N. The 35mm photo camera was sold in America under the name “Canon EOS Rebel 2000”. Japanese customers knew it as “EOS Kiss III”. It was also available with a data backplane.

The Canon EOS 300 offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used with the camera. You don’t have to focus by hand with the Canon EOS 300. The camera has an autofocus.

Taking pictures is made easier by the built-in light meter. The exposure meter is designed for 35mm film from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The camera determines the correct film speed via the DX code if desired.

The exposure meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. The 35 mm camera has an automatic exposure control and sets aperture and exposure time automatically. But there is also an aperture preselection and an automatic aperture control. The aperture and exposure time are also freely adjustable.

The camera has a bulb setting. The shutter can remain open for a variable time and expose the film. There is a built-in flash for taking pictures in low light conditions. A hot shoe is also not missing. The fastest shutter speed for flash photography is 1/90 second.

With a size of 14 x 9 x 5.8 cm the Canon EOS 300 weighs 335 grams according to the manual. The required power for the camera comes from two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Canon EOS 300

The Canon EOS 300 is designed for the 35mm format. 35mm films are still offered by various manufacturers. A good choice for color photos is Agfaphoto Vista 400*, but if you want to stay monochrome, AgfaPhoto APX 400* is not bad.

The color film is a color negative film and is developed in the C-41 process. This development process is available in almost every photo lab and delivers standardized results.

The film is transported further with a motor. A special feature is that the complete film is wound onto the take-up spool when it is inserted. Each time a picture is taken, it transports the film back into the cartridge. This way, no photos are lost when opening the back before the end of the roll.

You can only buy the 35mm camera in used condition. The value of a used copy is mainly measured by its condition and functionality.
