The Polaroid 600 is an instant film.
It was introduced in the 80s and enjoyed great popularity. Over time, it was developed again and again and came with different name additions on the market (Plus, High Definition, Platinum). In the end, however, it was simply called “600”. In the meantime, however, production of the film was discontinued.
An instant picture had a size of 8.8 x 10.7 cm, with the actual square image framed by a white border measuring 7.9 x 7.9 cm.
The development time was about 3 minutes at a temperature of 21°C. The film cassette contained ten pictures and a battery that supplied power to the camera and, if necessary, the flash.
In addition to the Polaroid 600, there were also a few different versions of the film. An example would be the Polaroid 600 Party Film, where the frame around the picture was printed with different designs.
The Polaroid 600 film is no longer manufactured, but there is still an alternative for the old Polaroid 600 cameras. The Impossible Project makes instant film for these cameras in an old Polaroid factory in the Netherlands. These are also offered again under the original brand. A possible alternative to the color film from Polaroid would be the Polaroid Color Film for 600*.
