The Polaroid Spirit 600 Norton is an instant camera from Polaroid. The range of functions of the model is congruent with the Polaroid One Step Flash. Of course, the production of the camera was allowed to run out a long time ago.

The design of this edition is black and blue. Next to the flash you can find the Norton logo. Above the image output is the phrase “Let’s Talk Shop”. Norton is an industrial tools company. The company is part of the French Saint-Gobain group of companies. Another model in the Saint-Gobain family is an edition for the CertainTeed company.

The Polaroid Spirit 600 Norton impresses with its ease of use. The vast majority of settings found on other types of cameras have been omitted here. Because of its simplicity, it can be used on many occasions. If you are planning a wedding or a party, the camera is a good choice for taking pictures. It is also a good choice for a vacation.

The most important settings are already set. Aperture and shutter speed, for example, cannot be changed by the user. It is not possible to change the lens. It has a fixed focal length. Many modern cameras have a zoom function. This functionality is not available on this model. The minimum focusing distance is 120 cm. For the clearest possible images, this minimum distance must be ensured.

Of course, this camera also includes a built-in flash. The flash is activated automatically when taking pictures. This is especially useful for indoor photography, as the camera needs a lot of light for clear pictures.

Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 Norton

If you want to take pictures, you can not do without the appropriate instant films for the photo camera. The camera manufacturer, Polaroid, has ceased production. Don’t worry, since 2010 films for the 600 format are offered again.

There is film material for color photos and monochrome images. Polaroid Color Film for 600*, the film for color photos with the instant camera. Black and white photography is possible with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both instant films perform well in test reports.

Eight photos are possible with one box. The film material is light-sensitive and should therefore never come into contact with light before shooting. Optimal storage conditions for the unexposed film material are found in a cool and dry place.

An image has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The actual image is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. All the remaining space of the Polaroid picture is white. Editions with multi-colored frames are also available.

Are the Instax films compatible with the instant camera? No, the films are not compatible.

Batteries

What batteries do you need for the Polaroid Spirit 600 Norton? With this type of camera, you can find the battery in the cassette along with the unexposed pictures. It provides the camera with enough power to take pictures. So changing the film is also changing the battery. There is no need to purchase another battery for the camera.

For environmental reasons, the empty film cassette with the battery should not be disposed of in household waste. The battery should be removed from the cassette and taken to a local disposal site.

Manual for the Polaroid Spirit 600 Norton

How to use the instant camera? A little guide on how to use the Polaroid instant camera.

The first thing to do is to insert the instant film. To do this, open the film door by pushing the slider on the side of the housing forward. The film cassette is inserted and the flap closed again. The light-proof film over the film cassette is now automatically removed from the camera.

The camera is now ready for taking pictures. To do this, aim the camera at the subject and press the shutter release button. The motor inside the camera transports the image out of the film cassette. As it does so, it passes through two rollers, which distribute the chemistry for development over the image. After a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.

Alternative Models

If you can’t find the camera, you could turn to alternatives. Here, for example, the Polaroid One600* and Polaroid 600 Business Edition* come to mind. These models offer similar features. They also use the same film format.

You might also want cameras from other manufacturers as an alternative. Two models are the Instax Mini 8* and Instax Mini EVO*. The matching film stock is also still being manufactured.
