The Polaroid 600 Mr. Love Cam Edition is a limited edition instant camera. It has the same range of features as the Polaroid One Step Flash. The cost of one copy is 250 US dollars in 2022.

This limited edition model is based on an old Polaroid camera. The model presented to the public in January 2022 is the result of a collaboration between various parties. The technical side was handled by the American company Retrospekt. They reworked the old cameras and tested them for their functions.

The design was created by Mr André on behalf of 1XRun. André Saraiva (a.k.a. Monsieur André, Mr André or Monsieur A) is a Swedish-French artist. His specialty is graffiti and he has worked with brand like Louis Vuitton, Apple and Nike.

The body of the camera is made of plastic and in the colors light blue and pink. Next to the flash and above the slot for the output of the image, you can find the imprint “Love”. Next to the lens and on the back are printed two drawings by the artist.

The Polaroid 600 Mr. Love Cam Edition is characterized by its ease of use. It has been designed without most of the setting options found on other types of cameras. The ease of use allows for a low barrier of entry and thus many possibilities for areas of use. The camera is ideal for taking pictures when you have a wedding or festival on the agenda. However, it can also be a lot of fun on vacation.

Changes to the exposure settings are not possible. The exposure time cannot be changed. You also can’t choose the aperture value yourself. It is not possible to change the lens. It has a fixed focal length. A zoom function, as with a digital camera, does not exist. For close-ups, you should therefore take a few steps closer to the subject. To get sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 120 cm to the subject should be kept.

An integrated flash is of course also on hand with this model. The flash fires automatically. Especially in low light conditions, the flash is a lifesaver.

Films for the Polaroid 600 Mr. Love Cam Edition

The basis for taking photos with the instant camera are the associated instant films. The original film material of the American company Polaroid can no longer be purchased. Films are offered again under the old brand name. They are produced in the Netherlands.

There is both a color film and a black and white film for the camera. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the instant film for color photos. For monochrome images, you need to reach for the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films are very popular with photographers.

Eight unexposed photos can be found in one box. The light-sensitive film stock should not be exposed to light outside the camera. The unused film stock should be stored in a dark, cool and dry place.

According to the specification of the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area of the Polaroid picture is white. Editions with colored frames are also offered.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the Polaroid 600 Mr. Love Cam Edition? With this type of camera, you can find the battery in the cassette along with the unexposed pictures. The disposable battery is sufficient for all unexposed pictures in the cassette. Even when using the flash for each exposure. So when you change the film, you also replace the camera’s battery. A second battery is not required for the instant camera.

If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. As a result, in many cases, the camera will no longer function. Troubleshooting consists of removing the old film and inserting a new one with a full battery.

The first step is to insert the film. To do this, slide the slider forward on the side to open the film door. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The protective film that has protected the film material from light until now is now automatically removed by the camera technology.

Now you can take pictures. Aim at the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter release button. The motor in the camera ejects the image. Now the photochemistry begins to develop the image. The development process is quickly finished after a waiting period and you can take a closer look at the final result.

If you can’t find this model, you could turn to alternatives. The Polaroid One Step Flash would be a first option that one could choose. It has the same features and requires the same films.

One might also want to reach for other instant cameras as an alternative. Outside of the Polaroid world, you can find the Instax Wide 300* and Instax Mini 40*, for example. Fresh film stock can still be purchased for these cameras as well.
