The Polaroid One600 Classic is an instant camera. It was sold from the year 2004 and belongs to the last generation of Polaroid 600 cameras. As you can guess, the camera is no longer made new today.
The Polaroid One600 Classic is characterized by its user-friendliness. The majority of the setting options you are used to from other cameras are not available on this model.
Thanks to this low entry threshold, the camera can be operated by anyone and is therefore suitable for many occasions. Weddings or parties, for example, would be good areas of use for the camera. It is also a good companion on vacation.
The photo camera comes with a pre-installed fixed lens. There is no zoom function, as with a digital camera. The minimum focusing distance is 90 cm. This minimum distance must be ensured for the clearest possible pictures.
The Polaroid camera has an integrated photo flash. The flash happens automatically when the picture is taken. Especially in low light conditions, you are often grateful for the flash. The flash has a range of three meters.
The camera cannot be screwed onto a tripod. And what about a self-timer? This function is not available. There’s no light/dark control either, and there’s no mode for avoiding red-eye when using the flash.
Films for the Polaroid One600 Classic
Quite important for the Polaroid One600 Classic are the appropriate photo films. The original film material of the American company Polaroid is no longer available for purchase. Don’t worry, since 2010 films for the 600 format are offered again. There is no compatibility with the films from Fujifilm.
There is a film for color pictures, but also a suitable film for monochrome pictures. For color photos with the camera there is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Classic black and white pictures are possible with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. In tests, both can often do well and get a high rating score.
You can find eight shots in one box. The film material is very sensitive to light. Therefore, it must not come into contact with light outside the camera. The optimal storage conditions are found in a dry and dark place.
As defined during development, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm in size. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area of the image is white. Various editions of Polaroid films also have colorful frames.
Batteries
Of course, a battery is needed for the transport mechanism, automatic exposure and flash. In this model, the power source is built into the film cassette that holds the unexposed images. So when you buy film for the camera, you get the battery right along with it and don’t have to buy an extra battery for the instant camera.
The battery is sufficient for the number of pictures possible with one film pack, even if the flash is used with every picture. However, since it’s just a regular battery, it will lose reserve over time or may run out completely. So you may not be able to take pictures with the camera anymore, even if there are still unexposed pictures in the camera. In this case, you should simply buy a new film for the camera.
Instructions for the Polaroid One600 Classic
How to take instant pictures with the instant camera? A brief instruction manual on how to operate the Polaroid instant camera.
First of all, you need to load the film. To do this, open the film door by pressing the button on the back to open the camera, and then press the film button on the front of the housing. Now the cassette with the film material can be inserted. After that, the flap can be locked again. The camera now ejects the protective cover of the film.
The camera is now ready for operation. The subject can be aimed at through the viewfinder. The shutter release for taking the picture is then located on the side. The camera transports the image from the film cassette and the development of the image begins. After a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.
