The Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup is an instant camera for the Polaroid 600 format. It is a further development of the One Step Flash and looks practically identical. It dates back to the 80s.
Taking pictures with the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup is, as usual from other Polaroid 600 cameras, easy. Just press the shutter button and the camera does the rest. You can influence the exposure somewhat with the “Light Management System” (light/dark control).
What makes it different from the Polaroid One Step Flash is that it has a close-up lens. If this is moved in front of the normal lens, the close-up distance is reduced from 1.2 meters to 0.8 meters. The lens itself is a fixed focal length, so you have to zoom with your feet by changing the distance to the subject.
A flash is built into the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup and provides enough light.
If you press the shutter button normally, it flashes automatically, if you want to take a picture without flash, you press the lever behind the normal shutter button.
The juice for the flash and the camera itself comes from a battery in the film pack.
Films for the instant camera
Speaking of films, these are no longer manufactured by Polaroid. But the instant camera doesn’t have to gather dust on the shelf; The Impossible Project makes matching films for the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup. Sold under the original brand since 2020, the films would currently be the Polaroid Color Film for 600* and the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*.
Important when photographing that in an Impossible film pack there are only eight shots and not ten as before. So if you see a “2” in the frame counter, which counts down from “10”, it’s already over and not at “0”.
