The Polaroid Color i-Type film in the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 Edition is a special edition of the well-known Polaroid Color i-Type film, produced in a Polaroid factory in the Netherlands.
This edition, inspired by the annual Pantone Color of the Year, shows the close connection between photography and color trends. Pantone is known for its color system, which is used worldwide in various industries for accurate color communication. By selecting a specific Pantone color as a thematic framework, Polaroid enhances the visual experience of its users.
The color of the year 2024 is PANTONE 13-1023, Peach Fuzz. This color frames the pictures taken.
Evolution of instant film for Polaroid i-Type cameras
Polaroid i-Type film was originally developed by The Impossible Project and is now used in modern Polaroid i-Type cameras. Compared to the older Polaroid 600 format, the i-Type film does away with disposable batteries in the film cassette, which is not only more cost-efficient, but also more environmentally friendly.
Dimension and development process of the instant photo
Each image of the i-Type film measures 8.8 x 10.7 cm, with an image area of 7.9 x 7.9 cm. The remaining space is taken up by the artistically designed frame, which in this edition features special designs inspired by the Pantone color of the year. After ejection, the development process begins and takes about 15 minutes.
Camera models and availability
The films are designed for the latest Polaroid and Impossible camera models, such as the Polaroid Now+ and Polaroid OneStep+. They are not compatible with older models such as Polaroid 600 or Polaroid SX-70 cameras. This special edition is available from the Polaroid online shop, with each pack containing eight shots and selling at a price of around €20.
