The Polaroid Color i-Type Film in the Keith Haring Edition represents a special edition of the well-known Polaroid Color i -Type Films. This film material is manufactured by Polaroid in a Dutch factory. The presentation of this edition took place in June 2021.
The edition is printed with Keith Haring illustrations. It is not the first edition of this kind. There was already the Impossible Color Film for 600 Keith Haring Edition.
Evolution of instant film for Polaroid i-Type cameras
The instant film format was originally designed by The Impossible Project for their first camera and is now used in the new Polaroid i-Type cameras. In contrast to the Polaroid 600 format, this film does not require disposable batteries in the film cassette, which not only makes production more cost-efficient but also more ecological.
Dimension and development process of the instant image
Each instant photo measures 8.8 x 10.7 cm, with the actual motif taking up an area of 7.9 x 7.9 cm. The remaining space is taken up by the artistically designed frame, which shows special designs in this edition. The image development process starts immediately after ejection and usually takes about 15 minutes.
Camera models and availability
The instant films are specifically designed for the latest Polaroid and Impossible camera models and are not compatible with older models such as the Polaroid 600 or Polaroid SX-70 cameras. Some of the compatible camera models are the Polaroid Now+ and the Polaroid OneStep+.
The Keith Haring Edition was sold in the Polaroid online shop. Each pack contains a film cassette that holds eight shots. 19 euros were charged for a pack.
