The Polaroid Color i-Type Film David Bowie Edition is an instant film. It is a special edition of the Polaroid Color i-Type Film. The film stock is produced by Polaroid in a factory in the Netherlands. The edition was introduced to the public in early 2023.
As you can guess from the name, it is an edition in honor of the late artist. With each picture there is a frame. This is provided with designs of album covers of the British musician in this limited edition.
Development of instant film for Polaroid i-Type cameras
The Impossible Project has developed the instant film format for its first camera, which is now used in the new Polaroid i-Type cameras. Compared to the Polaroid 600 format, the film eliminates the need for disposable batteries in the film cassette, resulting in less expensive production and a more environmentally friendly alternative.
Size and development of the instant photo
The instant photo is 8.8 x 10.7 cm in size, with the actual photo occupying an area of only 7.9 x 7.9 cm. The rest of the area is filled by the frame, which in this edition features the special designs. The development of the image begins immediately after ejection and usually takes about 15 minutes.
Cameras and Availability
The instant films are only suitable for the new Polaroid and Impossible cameras and cannot be used in older models such as the Polaroid 600 or Polaroid SX-70 cameras. Cameras that can be used include the Polaroid Now+ and the Polaroid OneStep+.
Available from the Polaroid online store, each pack contains one film cassette, enough for eight pictures each.
