The Polaroid Black & Blue 600 Film – Duochrome Edition is an instant film. It was introduced in July 2021 and is manufactured in an old Polaroid factory in the Netherlands. It is a monochrome film. The images in this edition are not black and white, but black and blue.

The film is designed for the Polaroid format type 600. This film format was developed in the 80’s and is the successor of the SX-70 format. This Duochrome film is not the first edition, still under the name The Impossible Project different variants were offered.

A picture taken with Polaroid Black & Yellow 600 film measures 8.8 x 10.7 cm. This area is filled by the photo taken (7.9 x 7.9 cm). The rest of the area is filled by a black frame rather than a white frame in this edition.

After the photo is taken, the image is ejected from the camera and the captured image slowly appears on the blank area. During the ejection, the developing chemistry is spread on the surface, and the chemistry begins its work. The development process takes about five to ten minutes. You should not shake the image during development.

Format

You can use the film in all Polaroid 600 family instant cameras. However, it also fits in the i-Type cameras, under which the Polaroid Lab also falls. You can also expose the film in a Polaroid SX-70 camera. In this case, however, an ND filter is required, as the 600 films have a higher sensitivity than the SX-70 films.

The images are stored in the so-called film cassette. The film cassette also contains the battery for the instant camera, so no additional batteries are needed to take pictures. There are eight pictures in a cassette. The unexposed film should be stored in a dry and cool place.
