The Polaroid Black & Green 600 Film – Duochrome Edition is a special type of instant film. It was presented for the first time in June 2022 and is manufactured in a traditional Polaroid factory in the Netherlands. It is characterized by the fact that it is a monochrome film that displays an extraordinary black and green instead of the classic black and white.

This film was designed specifically for the Polaroid Type 600 format, a further development of the original SX-70 format from the 80s. There were already earlier versions of this duochrome edition under the label “The Impossible Project”.

An image captured by Polaroid Black & Green 600 film measures 8.8 x 10.7 cm, with the actual photo taking up a square area of 7.9 x 7.9 cm. In contrast to other editions, the remaining frame area is not white, but is presented in black.

When a photo is taken, it is immediately ejected from the camera, with the captured image slowly appearing on the previously unused surface. During the ejection process, the developer chemical is distributed over the surface and initiates the development process, which takes between five and ten minutes. It is advisable not to move the image during this phase.

Film format

The Green 600 Film is compatible with all Polaroid 600 series instant cameras, including the i-Type cameras and the Polaroid Lab. It can also be used in a Polaroid SX-70 camera, although an ND filter is required to compensate for the higher sensitivity of the 600 films.

The photos are stored safely in the so-called film cassette, which also contains the necessary battery for the camera, so that no additional batteries are required for photography. Each cassette holds eight images. To maintain quality, the unexposed film should be stored in a cool and dry place.
