The Polaroid 600 VNYL CAM is an instant camera. The range of functions of the model coincides with the Polaroid One Step Flash. Of course, the production of the camera was allowed to expire a long time ago.

The Polaroid 600 VNYL Cam / VNYL.Cam is a special edition that was introduced in 2019. It is a restored Polaroid instant camera with adapted design. The company Retrospekt from the USA was responsible for the technical aspect. The model was commissioned by the company VNYL.

VNYL is a subscription service from the USA. One takes out a subscription and receives a vinyl every month. VNYL takes into account the given musical taste.

The Polaroid Edition is in the colors of the company. A bright pink is the dominant color. In addition, one finds a bright yellow and a deep black. The Polaroid logo can be found next to the flash. The VNYL logo is printed next to the lens. One copy is sold for just under 200 US dollars.

The Polaroid 600 VNYL CAM impresses with its ease of use. Many of the setting options available on other types of cameras have been eliminated. Thanks to its straightforwardness, it can be used on many occasions. For example, a good event for using the camera is a wedding or other celebration. The camera also looks good on vacation.

The basic exposure settings cannot be changed. There is no free choice of shutter speed and aperture. The photo camera comes with a fixed lens. The model does not have a zoom function. The minimum focusing distance is 120 cm. This minimum distance must be maintained for the sharpest possible photos.

A built-in flash is of course also included in this camera. It is used automatically. The flash enables reasonably good shots even in unfavorable lighting conditions.

Films for the Polaroid 600 VNYL CAM

If you want to use the camera, you need the appropriate instant films. Production of the original consumable has since been discontinued. But there is a new edition under the same name from a new company.

For 600 format cameras, there is a color and black and white film. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the material for color photos. Those who prefer monochrome images can choose the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. In tests, both can often do well and get a high rating score.

You can find eight images in a pack. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimal storage conditions are found in a dry and dark place.

As specified in the standard, one image measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area of the image is white. For those who find white frames too boring, there are editions with colorful frames.

Batteries

Do you need a specific type of battery for the instant camera? The camera’s power supply unit is a battery inside the film cassette. It supplies power to the camera technology and flash. So replacing the film also serves as a change of power source. The instant camera itself does not require another battery.

If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Of course, in the absence of sufficient power supply, the camera will no longer function. The solution to the problem is to replace the old film with new film with a new battery.

Instructions for Polaroid 600 VNYL CAM

How to take instant pictures with the instant camera? A little guide on how to use the Polaroid instant camera.

The first act is to load the film. To do this, move the slider on the side forward to open the film cover. The film cassette is then inserted. The cover can then be closed again. Automatically, the protective cover of the film ejects.

The camera is now ready for use. Aim at the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter release button. The electric motor inside the camera transports the exposed image from the film cassette through two rollers. This distributes the developing chemicals over the image. Within minutes, the image development process is complete and you can admire the final result.

If you can’t find the camera, it is advisable to resort to other options. The first option here is the Polaroid One Step Flash. It offers the same capability and needs the same film stock.

If it should be a different film format, there is a larger selection of different instant cameras. Two particular models that don’t come from Polaroid are the Instax Mini 11* and LomoInstant Square*. Fresh film stock can still be purchased for the cameras.
