The Impossible X UO Sage Island Polaroid 600 Cool Cam is a camera from Polaroid. It is an instant camera. The functionality of the model is congruent with the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners). It was developed in cooperation with Urban Outfitters. Meanwhile, the camera is no longer offered.

It is an original Polaroid camera whose design was adapted for the lifestyle brand. The design is in the colors blue and orange. Next to the lens is the imprint “Cool Cam” in white letters.

The Impossible X UO Sage Island Polaroid 600 Cool Cam is extremely user-friendly. Many adjustment options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. Because it is so easy to use, there is a low barrier to entry and thus a wide range of uses. For example, it is a good choice for parties and weddings. It’s also a great companion on vacation.

It is not possible to change the basic exposure settings. For example, the aperture and shutter speed cannot be changed by the user. The lens is fixed and not interchangeable. There is no zoom function on this model. For crisp photos, a minimum distance of 60 cm from the subject should be maintained when using the close-up lens.

Of course, the camera cannot do without a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. Due to the small aperture, the use of the flash is particularly useful indoors.

Films for the Impossible X UO Sage Island Polaroid 600 Cool Cam

Of great importance for the instant camera are the corresponding photo films. The camera manufacturer, the US company Polaroid, no longer produces film material. However, films are being produced again under the same brand name.

There is both a color film and a black-and-white film for the camera. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the film for color photos. Monochrome images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. How do the films perform in the test? Both films can convince in many situations.

There are eight photos in a box. The film material is light-sensitive and should therefore not come into contact with light before exposure. Unexposed film material should be stored in a dark and dry place.

An instant film has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 x 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The rest is filled by a white frame. Editions with colored frames are also offered.

Batteries

What kind of batteries do you need for the Impossible X UO Sage Island Polaroid 600 Cool Cam? In this type of camera, the power source is located in the cassette that contains the unexposed images. The disposable battery contains the energy needed to operate the camera technology, such as the motor, camera shutter, and flash. So every time the film is changed, the battery is also replaced. No other battery is needed for the camera.

If the camera with the film inserted has not been used for a long time, the battery may have discharged. As a result, the camera will stop working in many cases. Replacing the old film with new film stock and thus a new battery may solve the problem.

How to use the instant camera? An introductory guide to how the Polaroid camera works.

The first step is to load the film. To do this, slide the small slider on the side forward. This will open the film door. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. Now the camera ejects the protective cover of the film.

The camera is now ready for operation. On the side of the housing is the release button. The camera transports the image from the film cassette and the development of the image begins. Within a few minutes, the development process is complete and you can view the final result.

Alternatives

If you can’t find the camera, you should resort to other options. The first option here is the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners). It offers the same features and requires the same films. Another option is the Polaroid 636.

As an alternative, you can also go for other instant cameras. Two instant cameras are the Instax Mini 40* and Instax Mini 90*. You can conveniently buy the films for these models online.
