The Polaroid 600 Mickey Mouse Edition is a camera for 600 film. It is a restored instant camera with a new design. It is identical in functionality to the Polaroid One Step Flash. It was realized together with Disney. The occasion was the 90th birthday of the cartoon mouse in 2018.

The design of the camera is in the colors white, yellow and red. Of course, you can also find the world-famous mouse as an illustration in the design. The technical part of this edition was done by the American company Retrospekt. They are responsible for the restoration of the camera and the design. In addition to the camera, there was also a matching film edition.

The Polaroid 600 Mickey Mouse Edition is characterized by its user-friendly features. The majority of the settings options you are used to from other cameras are not available on this model. Its ease of use allows it to be used on numerous occasions. For example, it is great for parties and weddings. The camera also cuts a good figure on vacation.

Changing the exposure settings is not possible. Free setting of aperture and exposure time by the photographer is not provided. It is not possible to exchange the lens. It has a fixed focal length. The model does not have a zoom function either. For sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 120 cm from the subject should be maintained.

Is there a flash on the Polaroid instant camera? Yes, as is typical for this type of camera, you will find a built-in flash. After pressing the shutter button, the flash fires automatically. Especially when shooting indoors, this is also necessary, because the camera needs a lot of light for good photos.

Films for Polaroid 600 Mickey Mouse Edition

Very important for the photo camera are the correct photo films. The camera manufacturer, the company Polaroid from the USA, has stopped the film production. A new company distributes material for the film format again since the year 2010.

There is material for color photos and black and white images. Not a bad choice for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. The right handle for black and white images goes to the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. The Polaroid films also do well in test reports.

In one box you can find eight shots. The film material is very sensitive to light. Therefore, it must not come into contact with light outside the camera. For longer storage, you should find a dry place to store it. In addition, it should not be stored too warm.

According to the specification of the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area is filled by the familiar frame around the Polaroid picture. Are white frames too boring? Then you can buy editions with colorful frames.

Can you use the Japanese manufacturer’s Instax films. No, the films do not fit the Polaroid 600 Mickey Mouse edition.

Batteries

Do you need a specific type of battery for the instant camera? With this type of camera, the battery is inside the film cassette. The disposable battery holds the energy necessary to power the camera technology, such as the motor, camera shutter and flash. So with each film change, the battery is also replaced. A second or additional battery is not needed for the instant camera.

If the camera with film inside has not been used for a long time, the battery may have discharged. As a result, in many cases, the camera will no longer function. In this case, it is enough to remove the photo film and replace it with new film material.

Photoguide for Polaroid 600 Mickey Mouse Edition

How to take photos with the instant camera? A quick guide on how the camera works.

The first step is to load the instant film. To do this, push the small slider on the side forward. This opens the film door. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. The light protection film over the film cassette is now automatically removed by the camera.

Now you can take pictures. To capture the desired subject on film, the shutter release button on the side of the housing must be pressed. The camera transports the image from the film cassette and the development of the image begins. After a few minutes, the development process is complete and you can view the image.

Alternative cameras

If you can’t find the camera, you can use other options. Two great alternatives would be the Polaroid Job Pro* and Polaroid OneStep Autofocus*. These models offer comparable features. The Polaroid cameras are also for the 600 format.

You might want cameras from other manufacturers as an alternative. Two non-Polaroid instant cameras are the Instax Mini EVO* and Instax Wide 300*. The films for these models can be conveniently purchased online.
