The Polaroid 2000 is an instant camera for the SX-70 format. It is identical to the Polaroid Pronto! and is all black. The color of the round shutter release is green or red, depending on the copy. It was built by Polaroid in the 70s.
The Polaroid 2000 dates back to the 70s and was sold for the international market, outside of America. The body was made of plastic. The lens (Polaroid Polatriplet 9.4/116 Color Corrected Coated) in the instant camera is fixed.
The lens has a focal length of 116 mm. The camera does not have a zoom. The camera automatically selects the aperture and exposure time. You can have some influence on the exposure with the light/dark control. This is located on the front below the viewfinder window. The viewfinder is very simple and does not give any further information about the camera’s settings.
A flash can be connected to the socket for flashbars. The Polaroid 2000 does not have a connection for a cable release or a self-timer.
The camera is designed for SX-70 films, like the SX-70 Time-Zero. Polaroid no longer makes films, but The Impossible Project / Polaroid Originals makes suitable instant films for the Polaroid 2000.
Here, for example, there is the Polaroid Color Film for SX-70* for color pictures. If you want to take monochrome pictures, the Polaroid B&W Film for SX-70* would be an option.
There are eight images in a film pack. In the past, the frame count was ten, so the frame counter also shows ten. After the picture is taken, a motor automatically transports the image out of the camera and the development of the instant picture begins.
The battery for the Polaroid 2000 is located in the film cassette. With each film change, the battery is changed so automatically.
Other functions of the Polaroid 2000
- Automatic exposure
- Light/Dark slider
- Near focus limit 3 ft (just under 1 meter)
- Plastic housing
- Power supply by battery in film cassette
