The Polaroid 600 2000 is an instant camera. The features of the model correspond to the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners).

The body of the camera is in black. All imprints are in golden color. For example, next to the lens you can find the imprint “Glass Coated Lens”. Above the film edition “2000” and “CloseUp”.

The Polaroid 600 2000 stands out for its user-friendliness. Many of the setting options available on other types of cameras have been eliminated. Thanks to its straightforwardness, it can be used on many occasions. For example, a good event for using the camera is a wedding or other celebrations. However, it can also be a lot of fun on vacation.

The most important settings are fixed. For example, the aperture and shutter speed cannot be changed by the user. The lens has a fixed focal length. It is not possible to change the lens. The model does not have a zoom function. To zoom, you have to get closer to the subject. A distance of 60 cm to the subject is necessary for sharp images. For this, the close-up lens must be pushed in front of the actual optics.

Of course, the camera must not be without a built-in flash. When the exposure shutter button is pressed, the flash is automatically activated. Because of the small aperture, the use of the flash is especially useful indoors. Is there a self-timer function? No, there is no such function.

Films for the Polaroid 600 2000

Very important for the Polaroid camera are the correct photo films. The American company Polaroid, the manufacturer of the camera, has stopped producing films. Since 2010, films for the 600 format are produced again in a factory in the Netherlands.

There are black and white and color films for the 600 format. The perfect option for color images is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. The right choice for monochrome images is the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. In tests, both can often do well and get a high rating score.

There are eight shots in a box. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimal storage conditions are found in a dry and dark place.

An instant film has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm cm. The 600 cameras take square images with a size of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest of the image area is white. However, there are also Polaroid films with colorful frames.

Can the Instax films from the Japanese manufacturer be used? No, the films are not suitable for the instant camera.

Batteries

What type of battery is needed for the Polaroid 600 2000? With this type of camera, the power source is found in the cartridge containing the unexposed images. It contains enough power for all unexposed photos in the film cassette. Even when the flash is used. So a film change is also a battery change. Another battery is not required for the instant camera.

The film cassette, because of the battery, should not be thrown in the normal household waste if possible. The disposable battery should be removed from the cassette and given to a local recycling center.

Polaroid 600 2000 User’s Guide

How does the instant camera work? A clear instruction manual on how to operate the camera.

The first step is to insert the film. The film door opens by operating the slider on the side of the housing. Then the film cassette is inserted. The flap can then be closed again. Now the camera ejects the protective cover of the film.

Now you can start taking pictures. To do this, aim the camera at the subject and press the shutter release. The motor inside the camera transports the image out of the film cassette. In the process, it passes through two rollers that distribute the chemistry for development over the image. After a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.

Alternative Cameras

If you can’t find the camera, you can move on to other options. The Polaroid OneStep Flash* and Polaroid Spirit 600 CL* would be other options. These are models with a comparable feature set. They are also suitable for the 600 format.

You might also want cameras from other manufacturers as an alternative. Two potential choices are the Instax Mini 8* and Diana Instant Square*. The films for these instant cameras are sold online by many vendors.
