The Lomo’Instant Automat Glass Magellan is an instant camera. The instant camera was introduced in March 2017 and is a version of the Lomo’Instant Automat from Lomography. The design is in black and is decorated with orange elements. The black leather is vegan. and She is the first instant camera with a wide-angle glass lens.

The lens of the LomoInstant Automat Glass is fixed. 38 mm is the focal length of the glass lens. The 38 mm is equivalent to 21 mm on a 35 mm camera. The glass lens consists on 6 lens elements in 4 groups. The largest aperture of the camera is f/4.5.
There is no autofocus function on the LomoInstant Automat Glass. The focus is set manually in zones.The closest focusing distance is 30 cm. You can get even closer to the subject with the close-up lens. This allows macro shots at a distance of 10 cm from the subject.
The LomoInstant Automat Glass has a built-in light meter. The LomoInstant Automat Glass has an automatic exposure mode and sets aperture and exposure time automatically.
However, there is also a Bulb mode. In this mode, the film is exposed as long as the shutter button is pressed. The maximum exposure time is 30 seconds. The camera should be screwed onto a tripod for long exposures.
A flash is installed for pictures in low light. This fires automatically, but can also be turned off. It gets more colorful with the included color filters.
Multiple exposures are possible with the LomoInstant Automat Glass. For more creativity, there is also a splitter that can be used to cover part of the image.
There is an infrared wireless shutter release in the lens cap. There is no self-timer.

Films for the camera
The LomoInstant Automat Glass Magellan is designed for the “Instax Mini” instant format. You can easily buy the films today as they are still in production.
It is the smallest instant format and half the size of the Instax Wide format. The size of a picture is 8.6 x 5.4 cm. The actual image takes up an area of 6.2 x 4.6 cm. An EC card is about the same size as an Instax Mini picture.
The instant pictures are stored in a special film cassette. The cassette is placed in the camera as a whole. There are usually 10 pictures in a film pack. When the frame counter shows zero, the cassette must be replaced. One currently pays about seventy cents per image.
After the exposure, the image comes out of the LomoInstant Automat Glass Magellan. Within a few minutes, the image is then ready to be developed. The image quality of the color films (Instax Mini Film*) is impressive. The frame around the images can be labeled as desired. The Instax Mini Monochrome* is a black and white film for the Instax Mini format. There are some special editions of the color film with printed frames. The Instax Mini format is good for weddings, parties and scrapbooking.
