The Lomography Redscale 100 35mm is a Redscale film. Redscale is the term used for color negative film that has been turned upside down. So the light has to pass through the back of the film first. This results in images with strong red to orange tones. The more you overexpose it, the more normal the colors become again.

Theoretically, you can make a redscale yourself. People for whom this is too much effort can buy such a ready-made film.

The Lomography Redscale 100 35mm is a normal color negative film with a sensitivity of ISO 100. To avoid underexposed images, it is advantageous to expose it at least one or two stops more. So instead of setting ISO 100 in the camera, set ISO 50 or ISO 25.

The Lomography Redscale 100 35mm was sold in packs of three rolls each.

In the meantime it is no longer offered by Lomography. It probably contained a 100 film from Ferrania. Since Ferrania does not produce films anymore, it was probably discontinued. It can still be bought as medium format film.

At the time of its introduction, the Redscale 100 was the first fully rewound redscale film in the world.

Development

Lomography film is developed using the C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs. Although you can basically drop the film off at any lab that offers this developing service, problems can arise during development.

One problem can occur when developing the film, as the more sensitive side of the material is exposed when the film is turned, and depending on the technique, scratches can occur.

Another problem arises when making the prints. Most photo labs do image correction before making the prints to get the “correct” colors. However, with Redscale photos, such image correction is not possible, which can result in disappointing prints. It is therefore advisable to digitize the images yourself and then print them out, or to point this out to the lab in order to achieve the best possible results.
