This 35mm camera is a special edition of the La Sardina. It was presented by Lomography in the summer of 2012 along with the Metropolis, Latitude and Voyager in the Lomography Maps Editions.
The Copernicus is dipped in plain blue. However, the star maps and other astronomical designs with which the camera is decorated stand out. The camera takes its name from the 22 mm wide-angle lens of Nicolaus Copernicus.
The 35mm camera comes with “Fritz the Blitz”, the matching flash for the La Sardina. The flash is powered by a CR 123A battery (eBay / Amazon*).
The plastic lens has an 89° angle of view. The aperture cannot be changed, it is fixed at f/8.
Films for the La Sardina Delaunay
The La Sardina Delaunay is a 35mm camera and requires 35mm film. 35mm film is still readily available today and is developed by most photo labs. A good choice of film is the Kodak Portra 400* for color images and the Ilford XP2 Super* for black and white images.
The development process for color film is the C-41 process. This development process is offered by most labs. For example, you can take your film to most drug stores for development. Black and white film can also be processed in the C-41 process. This is a special feature, most B&W film must be developed in a different developer.
The film in the camera must be rewound manually by the photographer.
