The La Sardina – Capri Punta Carena is a special edition of the La Sardina. The camera is covered in large parts with fabric. The design is unique for each La Sardina, because the fabric is always different. This differs slightly with each camera and makes it unique.
It was introduced by Lomography in May 2012 as part of the La Sardina Beach Edition.
The La Sardina is named after the island in the Mediterranean Sea and probably after a lighthouse on the island in the Gulf of Naples. The lighthouse is located in a bay, is about 3 kilometers from Anacapri and has been in operation since 1867.
The La Sardina is a 35mm camera with a wide-angle lens. This has a focal length of 22 mm. The version has the same features as all La Sardinas.
The included flash requires CR 123A (eBay / Amazon*) batteries, these are not included. A switch on the back can be used to control the power of the flash.
Included with the camera are a poster, a book of photos (“Seeing the world through a sardine cam”), Fritz the flash and color filters for the flash. Packed in a cardboard box, the whole thing is reminiscent of a fish box.
Films for La Sardina – Capri Punta Carena
The La Sardina – Capri Punta Carena is designed for 35mm films. 35mm film is still being produced today and can be processed by most external photo laboratories without any problems. Recommended for color images with this camera is Fujifilm Superia 400*, while for black and white images Ilford Delta 400* is recommended. Films from other producers can of course also be used with the camera.
The color film is developed in the C-41 process. Almost all photo labs can do the C-41 process. The B/W film can be developed in a photo lab or at home. Development guides are available on online platforms.
