The Kodak Ektar H35N is a half-frame camera. It was introduced in 2023.

The new Kodak Ektar H35N is an evolution of the original model, offering several new features for increased creativity. It features an improved, coated lens for sharper images and a built-in star filter that adds a dreamy effect to light sources.

Additionally, a bulb function for long exposures and a tripod mount have been added, which were not present in the predecessor model.

The H35N is available in various new colors and designs. It comes in Black, Silver, Green, Blue, Orange, and Pink. There are also some special editions. The camera body is made of plastic.

An accessory case is available for underwater or diving use.

Camera Features

The lens of the 35mm camera is built-in and non-interchangeable. The focal length is fixed at 22 mm. The largest available aperture is f/8. The focus distance cannot be adjusted on this model. The focus is fixed. It is recommended to maintain a distance of 100 cm from the subject to achieve sharp photos.

It should be noted that the 35mm camera does not have an integrated light meter. There are no setting options anyway. The aperture is fixed, and the shutter speed is also fixed at 1/100 second.

The Kodak Ektar H35N has a bulb setting. A cable release is required for this function. In this mode, the shutter remains open as long as the shutter release is held down. This allows for long exposures at night, for example.

The built-in flash provides sufficient light. There is also a tripod mount.

The camera weighs 110 grams and measures 11 x 6.2 x 3.9 cm.

The required power for the camera comes from an AAA battery (eBay / Amazon*). This power is only used for the flash. If you don’t use this function, you can do without the battery.

Films for the Kodak Ektar H35N

Exposures in the Kodak Ektar H35N are made with 35mm film cartridges. 35mm films are still available and can be easily developed at most professional photo labs without encountering difficulties.

Available photo films for the Kodak Ektar H35N that are easy to get are the Fujifilm Superia 400* for color shots and the Kodak T-Max 400* for B&W shots. Of course, you can also choose films from other manufacturers.

The negatives from the camera measure 24 mm x 18 mm, the so-called half-frame format. In this exposure format, double the amount of images fit onto a film, for example, 72 images instead of 36.

There is no automatic film advance option in the camera, meaning the photographer has to manually wind to the next frame each time. There is a thumbwheel on the back for this.
