Reto

The Reto Project is a Hong Kong based company dedicated to the revival of analog photography. At a time when many manufacturers have stopped producing film cameras, the Reto Project has turned its attention to reviving them and creating affordable, well-fitted cameras. The company’s mission is to revive analog photography and bring fully functional film cameras to market that are accessible to everyone.

The Reto Project offers a range of products, including the Reto3D, a 3D film camera with a three-lens design. This camera captures an object from three slightly different angles to create three half-frame photos. Along with the camera, the company also offers an app, the RETO3D app, which helps stitch the photos together to create 3D videos.

Another of the company’s products is the RetoUWS, a film camera with an extremely wide 22mm lens designed to capture every detail in the image. The camera is lightweight (only 68.8g) and slim in design, so it can be carried around as a pocket camera on a daily basis.

Both cameras are designed for the 35mm format. Films are still made for this film format and there are still photo labs that do the development of these. Among the manufacturers are Kodak, Fujifilm, Lomography, Foma or even Adox from Germany.

Reto also sells cameras with the Kodak brand name. The cameras are manufactured by the company Sino Promise Group from Hong Kong / China and sold under an arrangement with Kodak Alaris under the legendary name.

In addition to cameras, Reto Project also offers a number of photographic films. Most of the films are also based on material that was produced for Kodak’s motion picture production.
