The Kodak Ektar H35N BT21 Edition represents a special edition of Kodak’s half-frame camera. It was introduced in 2024. The cameras are identical in terms of functionality.
The BT21 Edition of the camera is characterized by a bright design. It includes exclusive stickers with vintage Kodak symbols and BT21 characters for personalization. A white pouch and a wrist strap with a detachable keychain are also included in the scope of delivery.
Camera Features
The lens of this 35mm camera is permanently integrated and cannot be exchanged. With a fixed focal length of 22 mm, it enables consistent image composition. The maximum aperture that can be used is f/8.
Manual distance adjustment is not possible with this camera model. The focus is kept static. For optimal sharpness of the shots, a distance of at least 100 cm to the subject is recommended.
The half-frame camera is equipped with a revised, coated lens that ensures increased image sharpness, as well as an integrated star filter that gives light sources an aesthetically pleasing radiance.
It should be noted that this 35mm camera has no built-in exposure metering instruments. Likewise, no further setting options are provided. The aperture is fixed, and the exposure time is also kept constant at 1/100 second.
The Kodak Ektar H35N BT21 Edition offers the possibility of a bulb setting, for which a wire release is required. In this mode, the shutter remains open for the entire duration the release is pressed, which can be used, for example, for long exposures at night.
An integrated flash is available for sufficient illumination. Additionally, a tripod thread is attached for mounting.
The camera weighs 110 grams and has dimensions of 11 x 6.2 x 3.9 cm.
The necessary power for the camera is provided by an AAA battery (eBay / Amazon*). This power source is exclusively needed for the operation of the flash. Without using this function, the battery can be omitted.
Films for the Kodak Ektar H35N BT21 Edition
The Kodak Ektar H35N BT21 Edition uses 35mm patron film for photography. 35mm films are still readily available and can be easily developed at most professional photo labs without any difficulties.
Easily available photo films for the Kodak Ektar H35N BT21 Edition are the Fujifilm Superia 400* for color images and the Ilford HP5* for black and white shots. Of course, films from other manufacturers can also be used.
The negatives of this camera measure 24 mm x 18 mm and are referred to as half-frame. In this shooting format, twice as many images can be captured on a film, for example, 72 instead of the usual 36 shots.
There is no automatic film advance function in this camera, so the photographer has to manually advance each frame. A thumbwheel is available on the back for this purpose.
