The Impossible Color Film for SX-70 is an instant film. It was introduced by The Impossible Project at the end of 2013.
The Impossible Color Film for SX-70 replaces the PX 70 Color Protection. In addition to the development on the film, the packaging and name were also adapted.
The Impossible Color Film for SX-70 is suitable for all of Polaroid’s SX-70 cameras. This includes the various Polaroid SX-70 (the foldable instant camera), but also the non-foldable models, such as the Polaroid 1000 or the Polaroid OneStep. A list of supported models is also available on FilmPhotography.eu.
The size of a picture is 8.8 by 10.7 cm, the same as a picture taken with the Color Film for 600, but the Color Film for SX-70 cannot be used in Polaroid 600 instant cameras. It can be used in the Instant Lab from Impossible.
The sensitivity of the Impossible Color Film for SX-70 is ISO 125, but Impossible still recommends moving the light/dark slider one third into the dark range. After the camera has ejected the image you have to protect it from light, in low light conditions, e.g. indoors, you can do without it. The time needed to develop an image is about 30 minutes.
The unexposed film should be stored in the refrigerator. It should not be stored for too long; it is good to use it up within the first twelve months after the production date.
One pack of Impossible Color Film for SX-70 instant film allows you to take eight shots.
New version
Meanwhile, there is a new version of the film. The instant film has been improved in many aspects and provides more beautiful results. Now the film is also sold again under the old brand “Polaroid”. The newest version is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*.
