The Canon EOS New Kiss is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera was built by Canon and sold in Japan. The predecessor model was the Canon EOS Kiss. Later the Canon EOS Kiss III followed and under the name “Canon EOS 500N” the 35mm photo camera was sold in Europe. The model EOS Rebel G was available on the American market.
The lenses of the Canon EOS New Kiss can be changed. Therefore an EF bayonet was built into the camera. Focusing is made easier by a built-in autofocus.
The Canon EOS New Kiss has a built-in light meter. The exposure meter is designed for 35mm film from ISO 25 to ISO 5000. The camera reads the DX code of the film cartridge and adjusts the exposure meter accordingly.
As with most SLR cameras, the exposure is measured through the lens. The Canon EOS New Kiss can automatically set the aperture and exposure time. The desired shutter speed can also be set manually. The aperture is also freely selectable.
The camera comes with a bulb setting option. Here the shutter is opened for a variable time. There is a built-in flash for taking pictures in low light. According to the manual the power of the flash reaches up to 12 meters. An external flash can be connected via hot shoe. The miniature camera comes with a thread for a tripod. A self-timer is also built in.
The camera weighs 400 grams according to the operating instructions and measures 14.6 x 9.2 x 6.2 cm. The power source of the 35mm camera are two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS New Kiss
The Canon EOS New Kiss was built for the 35mm format. 35mm films are still easy to get and are developed by most photo labs. A recommendation for this camera is Kodak Portra 160* and for b/w shots Kodak T-Max 100*, both films are a good choice for the next trip to Japan.
The color film is designed for development in the C-41 process. C-41 films are developed by almost all photographic laboratories. For example, you can hand in your films for developing at many drugstores in Germany.
Thus, on a normal film (135-36) about 36 pictures fit. The film is automatically rewound by the camera.
