The Canon EOS Kiss Lite is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera was built by Canon and introduced in 2003. A similar model was sold in Europe under the name “Canon EOS 3000V”. In the USA it was sold under the name “Canon EOS Rebel K2”.
The Canon EOS Kiss Lite offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. Therefore an EF bayonet was built into the camera. To focus the lens, an autofocus system was built into the Canon EOS Kiss Lite.
Measuring the exposure is made easier by the built-in light meter. It can be used with films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The correct ISO value is read by the DX code on the film cartridge and the light meter is set accordingly. ISO 25 to ISO 5000 are supported.
The light meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. The aperture and exposure time are set automatically. Various exposure modes are available. The photographer can also select the aperture and exposure time as desired.
The 35mm camera comes with a bulb setting option. In this mode, the shutter is opened as long as the shutter release button is pressed. The regular shutter speeds range from 1/2000 second to 30 seconds.
There is a built-in flash for taking pictures when there is insufficient light. The flash has a range of 12 meters at ISO 100 and charges after 2 seconds. An external flash can be connected via hot shoe.
At a size of 13 x 8.8 x 6.4 cm, the Canon EOS Kiss Lite weighs 365 grams. Power is supplied by two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS Kiss Lite
Without photo films nothing works with the Canon EOS Kiss Lite. More precisely, the camera needs 35mm film. 35mm films are still produced today. They can be developed in most laboratories. Great color photos are possible with Fujifilm Superia 400*. The Ilford FP4 Plus* is an excellent choice for black and white pictures.
You can only buy the Canon EOS Kiss Lite when it is used. The value of a used copy is mainly measured by its condition and functionality.
