The Canon EOS Kiss III L / EOS Kiss 3 L is an SLR camera. The 35mm camera was built by Canon in the 2000s. It is the successor of the Canon EOS Kiss III and differs mainly in its appearance (metallic charcoal grey) and the backlight of the LCD display. It also comes with a remote control.
The model was only sold in Japan. The original price at that time was 64,000 Yen without lens. This camera could not be bought regularly on the western market.
The lenses of the Canon EOS Kiss III L are interchangeable. Therefore an EF bayonet was built into the camera. The camera is equipped with an autofocus.
The 35mm camera has a built-in light meter. It was designed for films with a sensitivity from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed can be determined via the DX code. Values from ISO 25 to IS0 5000 are possible.
The correct exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. The Canon EOS Kiss III L has different exposure modes. The shutter speed and aperture can also be selected by the photographer.
The Canon EOS Kiss III L has a bulb mode for long exposures. The shutter is open for a variable time. This SLR also features a tripod thread and a self-timer.
For photography in low light, there is a built-in flash and a hot shoe. The fastest shutter speed for taking pictures with flash is 1/90 second. The range of the built-in flash is approximately 12 meters at ISO 100.
The power source of the 35mm camera are two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS Kiss III L
The Canon EOS Kiss III L needs 35mm film. These films are still in production and can be obtained from almost every supplier of development work. One possibility for color pictures is the Agfaphoto Vista 400* and the Ilford FP4 Plus* for black and white photos.
Colour film is a negative film and is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is carried out by all photo laboratories that offer the development of 35mm film.
The exposure area of the Canon EOS Kiss III L is 24 mm x 36 mm. In the panorama function the exposure area is reduced to 13 x 36 mm. The film transport is automatic. The exposure time can be set automatically.
A special feature is that when loading the film, the entire roll is first wound onto the take-up spool. Each time a picture is taken, the film then returns to the cartridge. This way, no images are lost if the back cover is opened by mistake.
