The Canon EOS Elan 7 is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was introduced in 2000. The 35 mm camera was also available on the European market under the name “Canon EOS 30”. It is the successor of the EOS Elan II which was introduced in 1995.

A variant of the camera is the EOS Elan 7E with eye-controlled autofocus.

The lenses of the Canon EOS Elan 7 are interchangeable. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. The Canon EOS Elan 7 has a built-in autofocus system.

The camera has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The camera reads the DX code of the film cartridge and adjusts the light meter accordingly. Only the range from 25 to 5000 is supported.

The SLR camera determines the correct exposure by measuring through the lens (TTL). The correct exposure is automatically set by the camera. There are different exposure modes for this purpose. The desired exposure time can also be determined manually. The aperture is also freely selectable.

The camera comes with a bulb setting option. The shutter remains open as desired. A tripod thread and a self-timer are also available.

A flash is built in for pictures in low light. Additionally a flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe. The shortest possible shutter speed when taking pictures with flash is 1/125 second.

The dimensions of the miniature camera are 14.6 x 10.3 x 6.9 cm. It weighs 575 grams. Two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*) provide the power supply.

Films for the Canon EOS Elan 7

In the Canon EOS Elan 7, photographic films are exposed, more precisely 35mm films. 35mm films are still being produced and are developed without problems in most photo labs. A color film for the 35 mm camera would be Agfaphoto Vista 400*, a possible film for black and white pictures is AgfaPhoto APX 400*.

Colour film is developed in the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35 mm film.
