The Canon EOS 5000 is a 35mm camera from 1995 and is the predecessor of the Canon EOS 3000.
The 35mm photo camera was also sold in Asia under the name “Canon EOS 888”.
The Canon EOS 5000 comes with interchangeable lenses. Therefore an EF bayonet was installed. Focusing is made easier by a built-in autofocus.
For exposure metering the Canon EOS 5000 has an exposure meter. It can use the exposure for films with a sensitivity of ISO 25 to ISO 5000. The correct sensitivity is determined by the DX code on the film cartridge. The light meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. The exposure time can be set on the camera. The aperture cannot be changed by the photographer. There are, however, some exposure programs that will take over the setting.
The 35mm camera comes with a bulb setting option. The shutter can remain open for a variable time and expose the film. For taking pictures in low light conditions there is a built-in flash, which ensures clear pictures. With ISO 100 film it reaches up to 12 meters. An external flash unit can be used with the 35 mm camera by hot shoe. The 35 mm camera comes with a thread for a tripod. A self-timer is also built in.
According to the manual the camera weighs 340 grams and measures 14.5 x 9.2 x 7 cm. The power source of the 35mm camera are two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS 5000
According to the operating instructions of the Canon EOS 5000, 35mm films are exposed. 35mm films are still made by different producers. Possible films for the SLR are the Kodak Portra 400* and the Kodak TRI-X 400*, both of which can be used to take great souvenir pictures.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. C-41 films are developed by almost all photo laboratories.
The film is automatically transported by a motor. The speed is one frame per second.
The production of the Canon EOS 5000 was finished and today you can only buy it used. Depending on condition and functionality the used price varies. Since it is an entry-level model, the price is very low compared to other EOS cameras.
