The Canon EOS 30V is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera was produced by Canon. The Canon EOS 30V was also sold on the market under the names “Canon EOS Elan 7 NE” and “EOS 7S”.
The lenses of the Canon EOS 30V are interchangeable. Usable are lenses with an EF bayonet. The lens is focused by autofocus. On the motive one can focus by one look if desired. For this purpose the camera has a built-in IR sensor.
Measuring the exposure is made easier by the built-in light meter. This is designed for an ISO range from 6 to 6400. The camera reads the ISO value via the DX code on the cartridge.
The exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. The Canon EOS 30V can automatically set the aperture and exposure time. The aperture and shutter speed can also be freely selected.
The 35mm camera comes with a bulb setting option. There is a built-in flash for taking pictures in low light conditions, which ensures clear pictures. For ISO 100 films it reaches up to 13 meters. An external flash can be fired via the built-in hot shoe. The Canon EOS 30V has a self-timer and a tripod thread.
The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.6 x 10.3 x 6.9 cm according to the manual. It weighs 575 grams. The camera needs two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS 30V
If one reads the instruction manual of the Canon EOS 30V, one realizes that the camera needs some 35mm film in order to make pictures. The 35mm format is very common, therefore there are still some manufacturers and many development laboratories. A recommendation of this camera are the Fujifilm Superia 400* and for b/w pictures the AgfaPhoto APX 400*. Both films are a good introduction to analogue photography and give nice results.
The color film is developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 films are offered by most photo labs. A development of a 35mm color film is possible e.g. at most drugstore chains in Germany.
The film is transported automatically by the camera. At the end of the roll, the motor also automatically rewinds the film back into the cartridge.
