The Canon EOS 300X is a camera from Canon. It was introduced in 2004. The 35mm photo camera was also available on the American market under the name “Canon EOS Rebel T2”. On the Japanese home market it was available as “EOS Kiss 7”.
The Canon EOS 300X offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. With the Canon EOS 300X you don’t have to focus by hand. The camera has an autofocus. The autofocus consists of seven points.
The Canon EOS 300X is equipped with a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed (25 to 5000) is read from the camera by the DX code on the film cartridge.
As with most SLR cameras, the exposure is measured through the lens. The Canon EOS 300X has a program automatic and sets aperture and exposure time automatically. The desired exposure time as well as the f-stop can also be set by the user.
If you want to take long time pictures, there is the bulb setting. In low light conditions the built-in flash can be used. According to the manual the power of the flash reaches up to 13 meters. An external flash can be used with the 35mm camera by hot shoe.
With a size of 13 x 9 x 6.4 cm the Canon EOS 300X weighs 365 grams according to the manual. Power is supplied by two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS 300X
Which photo films are needed for the Canon EOS 300X? The camera uses 35mm film. 35mm film is still produced today as it is the most popular film format and is quite easy to get. A recommendation for taking pictures with this camera is Agfaphoto Vista 200* for color pictures and Kodak TRI-X 400* for black and white pictures. Both films give nice results.
The development process for color film is the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35mm film. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer the development of color films.
The area of the negatives of the Canon EOS 300X is 24 mm x 36 mm. The film transport is automatic. For this the SLR comes with an automatic prewinding system. After positioning the film in the housing, the camera winds the film completely onto a spool. After each frame, a piece is wound back into the cartridge. When opening the back cover, no images are lost due to incident light.
