The Fujifilm Superia Venus 400 is a color negative film. It belongs to the Fujifilm Superia family of films and was sold in the Japanese market. The material was also produced in Japan.

Superia Venus 400 is a negative film for color images. The sensitivity of the film is specified in the data sheet as ISO 400. This sensitivity allows the film to be a good companion for everyday use and to be used in various cameras.

The ISO value is a standardized value for the film material’s sensitivity to light. Depending on the ISO value, the light sensitivity of a film varies. A higher value means a higher sensitivity.

Long-term storage of film material is recommended in a dry and cool place. To avoid loss of quality, exposed film material should be developed as soon as possible.

Developing the film

After photography, the Fujifilm Superia Venus 400 must be processed in the CN-16/C-41 development process. The C-41 development process is standardized, unlike the development of black and white film. One advantage of this development process is that the same result is always achieved, regardless of the lab, because the process is standardized.

Normally, this is followed by either making prints or digitizing. It is common for prints of the images to be made as an additional option at most developing labs.

Digitizing

By using a scanner, it is possible to digitize the negatives. There is a wide range of equipment available for digitizing negatives. These differ in features and quality, and there are suitable offers for every budget. After digitization, you can either process the results digitally or produce them again in physical form.

Availability and Alternatives

The Superia Venus 400 was available as 35mm film. With a normal frame size, 36 frames fit on the film. There was also a variant for 27 frames. The film cartridge has a DX code. To expose the film, there are many suitable 35mm cameras. Leica, Revue or even Canon are among the manufacturers that offer suitable camera models.

The color film is no longer produced. But there are still alternatives for the 35mm format. You could replace the 35mm film with the Kodak Ultramax 400*.
