The Silberra ULTIMA50 is a panchromatic black and white film with an ISO of 50. Silberra is a supplier from Saint Petersburg, Russia.

There is also the Silberra PAN50 black and white film, which is identical to the Silberra ULTIMA50, except that the base layer is thinner on the ULTIMA50 film, which makes scanning and printing a little easier.

The Silberra ULTIMA50 is a black and white film. The emulsion is panchromatic sensitized. With extremely fine grain, a wide tonal range, perfect sharpness and increased contrast, the film excels.

The film has an ISO value of 50, as specified. The ISO value provides information about the sensitivity of the film material to light. Higher sensitivity of the film can be achieved by using a higher ISO value, which allows for shorter exposure times or a smaller aperture. The film is ideal for shooting in good light due to its low sensitivity.

Developing the film

The ULTIMA50 film, unlike color negative film, does not require a standardized development process and instead must be processed in a black and white developer. It is possible to have black and white development done either by professional photo labs or to do it yourself at home with the right photo chemistry and accessories. There are several black and white developers available such as Rodinal, D-76, XTOL, ID-11 or Ilfosol 3, and the choice of developer can have a significant impact on the final result.

No specific development recommendation is given for the combination of film and developer. It is advisable to use similar film stock as a guide or to experiment. Once the development process is complete, the images will be visible on the film strip. Alternatively, the negatives can be digitized or prints can be made. Most developing labs often have the ability to make prints of the images as an additional option.

Digitization

Digitizing images from film strips requires the use of a scanner. There are different types of scanners that are suitable for home use, while professional photo scanners provide the best scanning results. After digitization, the files can be shared on various social media platforms or produced in printed form.

Formats

The ULTIMA50 can be purchased for 35mm cameras only. With a normal image size, 36 images will fit on the film. For the 35mm format, there are suitable cameras from various manufacturers, including Nikon, Rollei and Fujifilm.
