The Silberra Ortra 50 is a black and white film. The film is distributed by Silberra, a distributor from Saint Petersburg, Russia. Silberra was founded in February 2017 as part of a Russian online photo shop. This film was developed in cooperation with the local factory Micron.

The Silberra Ortra 50 in combination with a suitable camera enables the creation of monochrome images. It is orthochromatically sensitized and thus excludes all light waves in the red spectrum. The manufacturer advertises the emulsion with a quite high resolution, a medium to high contrast and offers a very good tonal range.

The sensitivity of the film is indicated with ISO 50. Therefore it is advisable to use it with sufficient light or with a camera with a fast lens.

Development of the film

There is no standardized development process, as there is for C-41 films. The Silberra Ortra 50 can be processed in different black and white developers. Developing a black and white film at home with the necessary equipment is no problem. The developed film strips can then be scanned.

Due to its orthochromatic sensitization, development under red light is also possible. Thereby, the light source should be at least two metres away from the film and not too strongly adjusted.

Formats

The Ortra 50 is only available as 35mm film. With a roll of film you can press the shutter 36 times. The price for one roll of film is 8.70 US dollars in the shop of the manufacturer.
