Reflx Lab Pro 100 - Development Information & Formats

The Reflx Lab Pro 100 is a color negative film that was originally developed as Kodak Aerocolor 2460 for aerial photography. Private customers cannot purchase the Kodak film, so they have to rely on suppliers who offer the film for photographers. The Aerocolor is still produced in the USA.

It is characterized by its fine grain, low noise and medium saturation and contrast. Thanks to its daylight balance, it is ideal for outdoor shots in daylight. The film can be developed using the C-41 process, but cross-development in E-6 is also possible to obtain slides.

Formats and cameras

The Reflx Lab Pro 100 is available in various formats:

35mm: Suitable for 35mm cameras with 36 exposures per roll.

Medium format: 120 and 220 for corresponding cameras.

Sheet film: In various sizes such as 4×5″, 5×7″ and 8×10″ for large format cameras.

Prices for a roll of the film are $12 (35mm), $12 (120) and $25 (220) in 2024. The price for the sheet films varies depending on the size. $100 for 4×5″ (20 sheets) and $200 for 5×7″ (20 sheets) or 8×10″ (10 sheets).

Due to the clear film base, some scanners, such as the Fujifilm SP3000, may have difficulty detecting the perforation. This can result in an undesirable red tint, but this can be corrected in post-production.

Developing the color film

The Reflx Lab Pro 100 is developed using the C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs. For developing the sheet film, dip and tilt development, tank development or the JOBO 3000 system are recommended. When cross-developing in E-6, warm tones can be achieved by using a Warming Filter 81B.

After development, the negatives can be digitized. It should be noted that some scanners may have problems detecting the perforation due to the clear film base.

Storage of the film material

To ensure the quality of the film, it should be stored in a cool and dry place. Direct sunlight and high temperatures should be avoided.

Background to the brand

Reflx Lab was founded in 2021 by two photographers in Shenzhen, China. Zaishu, a former Zhiyun engineer, and Yongxiang, an e-commerce expert, aim to provide high-quality films and camera accessories. The company develops, produces and sells its products worldwide.
