The Reflx Lab 500T is a color negative film that is characterized by its high sensitivity and its special adaptation to artificial light. It is suitable for both 35mm and medium format photography and opens up a wide range of creative possibilities for photographers.

Information and areas of application

The Reflx Lab 500T is based on the Kodak Vision3 500T, a film material that was originally developed for cinema film production. With a sensitivity of ISO 500, it offers high light sensitivity and enables shots to be taken even in difficult lighting conditions. Its color balance is adjusted to artificial light (3200K), making it particularly suitable for indoor and night shots.

Due to its origins in the cinema sector, the Reflx Lab 500T is characterized by fine grain and a high dynamic range. It delivers detailed images with natural skin tones and pleasant color reproduction. The film is suitable for a wide range of subjects, from portraits and still lifes to landscapes and street photography.

Film formats and possible cameras for the film

The Reflx Lab 500T is available in two common film formats:

35mm (35mm): This format is widely used and compatible with a wide range of analog cameras, from simple viewfinder cameras to professional SLR cameras. 36 images usually fit on a roll.

120 (medium format): The medium format offers a larger negative area and thus enables higher resolution and detail. The Reflx Lab 500T in 120 format can be used in medium format cameras from various manufacturers. The medium format film is made from the 62 mm format for cinema film cameras.

A roll usually costs around $9 online in 2024.

Development process and digitization of the negatives

The Reflx Lab 500T requires a special development process called ECN-2. This process was originally developed for cinema films and is different from the conventional C-41 processes for color negative films. ECN-2 developments are usually offered by specialized laboratories.

After development, the negatives can either be enlarged traditionally on photo paper or digitized. Flatbed scanners or special film scanners are suitable for digitization. The digital image files can then be further processed and used for various purposes.

Storage of the film material

Like all films, the Reflx Lab 500T should be stored in a cool, dry place to ensure its quality and durability. Ideally, it should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 4-8°C. Before use, the film should be slowly brought to room temperature to avoid condensation.
