The Porst Reflex S is a reflex camera. It was presented by Photo Porst in the 60s in West Germany. The model was built in Japan. Responsible was the company Tōkyō Kōgaku. They offered this model under the name “Topcon Wink Mirror S“. Today the Reflex S is rare to find.
The lens of the Porst Reflex S is changeable. Therefore a UV bayonet was installed in the camera. In many cases the camera comes with the UV Topcor 53mm f/2. You have to focus the lens manually.
The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. It was designed for films with a sensitivity of ISO 10 to ISO 400. The SLR determines the exposure via a selenium light meter at the front of the camera. The desired shutter speed can be set manually. The aperture is also freely selectable. But there is also the possibility to set the aperture automatically.
The Porst Reflex S has a bulb setting. The shutter can remain open for a variable time. The PC flash socket allows the use of an external flash with the camera. The Porst Reflex S can be mounted on a tripod. A thread for a cable release is also available. In addition, there is a self-timer.
The camera has a weight of 800 grams. The dimensions are 13,5 x 9,2 x 8,4 cm. Batteries are not necessary for the 35 mm camera. It works fully mechanically.
Films for the Porst Reflex S
The Porst Reflex S exposes 35mm film. These are still easy to get today and development services are still around. A good choice for color photography is the Agfaphoto Vista 200*. If you want to stay monochrome, the AgfaPhoto APX 100* is not bad.
