Porst Reflex M-CE

The Porst Reflex M-CE is a 35mm camera. She’s a single-lens reflex camera. The company Porst sold it starting in 1974 in Germany. It was produced by the OEM manufacturer Chinon. They offered the model as “Chinon CE II Memotron”. The model was also available from Foto Quelle as Revueflex 5005.

The Porst Reflex M-CE offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. Lenses with an M42 thread can be used. In most cases you will encounter the Porst Color Reflex Auto 1:1.7 f=50mm on the 35mm camera. M42 lenses are attached to the camera by means of a screw thread and are very common. The lens thread was developed by Carl Zeiss in Jena in 1938. Zeiss, Pentacon and Pentax were among others major manufacturers of M42 lenses. You have to focus the lens manually.

The Porst Reflex M-CE has a built-in light meter. As with most SLR cameras, exposure is measured by the lens. There is an aperture preselection mode that supports the photographer in taking pictures.

The 35 mm camera comes with a Bulb setting option. The shutter is open for a variable time. With the PC flash port and the hot shoe it is possible to use a flash.

The Porst Reflex M-CE needs photo film, more precisely 35mm film. The 35mm format is very common, which is why there are still some manufacturers and many development laboratories. A good choice of film is the Fujifilm Superia 200* for color photographs and the Ilford Delta 100* for black-and-white images. The Porst Reflex M-CE exposes an area of 24 mm x 36 mm. For example, a 36-frame 35mm film can hold at least 36 photos at this size.

The Porst Reflex M-CE can be triggered by a self-timer or an additional cable release. A thread for a tripod is available. The camera weighs 760 g and the dimensions are 14,5 cm x 9,7 cm x 5,45 cm.
