The Porst Compact Reflex SP is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was sold by the Nuremberg photo dealer. The “Porst Compact Reflex S” is very similar to this model, but it lacks the possibility of spot measurement and the multi exposure function. The camera dates back to the late 1970s.
The lenses of the Porst Compact Reflex SP can be changed. This is made possible by the M42 thread. Usually the camera comes with the Porst Color Reflex MC Auto 1:1.7/50 mm or the 1:1.4/55 mm. The M42 thread is more standardized and cross-manufacturer, so there is a large range of lenses and you have to focus the lens manually on the desired subject.
The Porst Compact Reflex SP has a built-in light meter. The exposure meter is designed to measure exposure through the lens of the camera. Spot and integral measurement is possible. The exposure time and aperture can be set manually by the photographer.
Bulb mode is available for long exposures. In this mode, the shutter will open as long as the shutter release button is pressed. Hot shoe flashes can be used with the Porst Compact Reflex SP. There is also a PC flash socket.
Films for the Porst Compact Reflex SP
Films of this format are still easy to get today and are still being developed. A good choice for color photography is the Fujifilm Superia 400*. If you want to stay monochrome, the Ilford Delta 400* is not bad.
The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is carried out by all photo laboratories offering the development of 35mm films.
The 35mm SLR can take multiple exposures on demand. The single frame is exposed several times and interesting compositions are created.
The 35 mm camera has a built-in self-timer with a lead time of 10 seconds. In addition, there is a connector for a cable release and a thread for a tripod. The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 13.6 x 8.3 x 5.1 cm. The weight is 540 g. The 35mm camera’s power source are two 1.5V silver oxide batteries.
The 35 mm camera is only available in used condition. The cost of the Porst Compact Reflex SP differs according to accessories and condition. The new price for the camera was 500 to 550 DM-Mark.
