The Polaroid Spirit 600 CL Fiat is an instant camera from Polaroid. It was offered in the 1990s.
The edition was made for Fiat. The logo of the Italian car manufacturer can be found on the black housing. Other than that, there are no special features. From a technical point of view, the model is based on the Polaroid One Step Flash Closeup.
The Polaroid Spirit 600 CL Fiat is characterized by its user-friendliness. Most of the settings found in other camera models have been eliminated. Thanks to its ease of use, it can be used for many different occasions. For example, it is great for parties and weddings. The camera also cuts a fine figure when traveling.
The most important settings are fixed on the camera. There is no free choice of shutter speed and aperture. The lens has a fixed focal length and cannot be exchanged. The camera does not have a zoom function like modern cameras. For close-ups, you therefore have to take a few steps closer to the subject. The smallest focusing distance is 60 cm with the built-in close-up lens. This minimum distance must be kept for the sharpest possible photos.
An integrated flash is of course also on hand with this model. The flash fires automatically. It is also necessary, especially for indoor shooting, as the camera needs a lot of light for good pictures.
Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 CL Fiat
Indispensable for taking photos with the photo camera are the appropriate instant films. The American company Polaroid, the manufacturer of the camera, has stopped producing films. But there is a new edition under the same name from a new company.
There is both a color film and a black and white film available for the camera. Instant color photos are possible with the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Black-and-white shots can also be easily created, with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* available for this purpose. Both films cut a fine figure in use.
There are a whole eight photos in one box. The film material is very sensitive to light. Therefore, it must not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimal storage conditions are found in a dry and dark place.
As prescribed in the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm in size. The actual image is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled by a white area. Polaroid also sells editions of the films with colorful frames.
There is no compatibility with Fujifilm’s films.
Batteries
What batteries do you need for the instant camera? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the plastic case. It contains enough power for all unexposed images in the film cassette. Even when the flash is used. So changing the film also represents changing the battery. Additional batteries are not necessary for the camera.
The film cassette, because of the battery, should never be disposed of in the household trash. The battery should be removed from the cassette and taken to a local disposal center.
Instructions for the Polaroid Spirit 600 CL Fiat
How to take pictures with the instant camera? A clear guide to how the Polaroid Spirit 600 CL Fiat works.
First, the film is inserted. To do this, slide the slider on the side forward and open the film door. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The protective film that previously protected the film material from light is now automatically removed by the camera technology.
Now you can start taking pictures. To do this, press the subject with the camera and press the shutter release button. The motor inside the camera transports the image out of the film cassette. In the process, it passes through two rollers, which distribute the chemistry for development over the image. After a few minutes, you have the finished image in your hand.
Alternative Options
If you can’t find the camera, you can use other options. Two great options would be the Polaroid OneStep Autofocus* and Polaroid 636 Closeup*. These models come with comparable functional features. They also use the 600 Polaroid format.
However, you might want to try something new. Two instant cameras that are not from Polaroid are the Instax Wide 300* and Instax Mini 11*. The instant films are still produced for these models as well.
