The Polaroid Spirit 600 Amoco is an instant camera. The range of functions offered by the camera model can be found in the Polaroid One Step Flash. It was created in collaboration with Amoco.

The camera’s body is made of plastic and comes in black and blue. The Amoco logo can be found next to the flash. The white lettering “Customer First” can be found above the image output.

American Oil Company, or Amoco for short, was founded by John D. Rockefeller in 1889 as part of the Standard Oil Company. Later, the company merged with British Petroleum and then operated as BP Amoco. Some time later, only the BP brand was used.

The Polaroid Spirit 600 Amoco is simple to use. The majority of setting parameters familiar from other cameras are not available on this version. The camera is provided with a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. This is especially useful for indoor shots, as the camera needs plenty of light for clear images.

For taking pictures with the instant camera, films are needed, of course. The camera manufacturer, the company Polaroid from the USA, has ended the film production. Since 2010, a Dutch company produces suitable film material again.

For 600 format cameras, there is a color and black and white film. For color photos there is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Monochrome images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. The popularity of the films is also confirmed by different tests.

The material of one pack is enough for eight pictures. The light-sensitive material must not come into contact with light under any circumstances. It can be stored for a long time in a dark and dry place.

One picture has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm. All 600 cameras take square photos with a size of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining space is filled by the familiar frame around the Polaroid image. Editions with multicolored frames are also available.

Important! The instant films from the house of Fujifilm do not fit with the Polaroid Spirit 600 Amoco.

Batteries

What type of battery is needed for the instant camera? The power source of the camera is a battery inside the film cassette. The disposable battery contains the necessary energy for the camera technology including the built-in flash. So replacing the film is also replacing the battery. A second battery is not required for the instant camera.

If the camera with film inside has not been used for a long period of time, this can lead to self-discharge of the battery. This means that the camera may stop working. The rescue is to replace the old film inserted with new material with full battery.
