The Polaroid Spirit 600 American Chicle Group is an instant camera. The range of functions of the model is the same as the Polaroid One Step Flash. The model is the result of a collaboration with American Chicle Group. Admittedly, the camera is no longer manufactured today.
The color design of this model focuses on the colors turquoise and black. At the top, next to the flash, you can find the logo of “American Chicle Group”. Above the film edition, the words “Merchandising First” can be found in turquoise.
A plus point of the Polaroid Spirit 600 American Chicle Group is its ease of use. Many of the setting options found on other types of cameras are not present. Its simplicity allows it to be used on many occasions. For example, weddings or parties would be good uses for the camera. However, it is also a lot of fun to use on vacation.
Changing the basic exposure settings is not possible. The shutter speed and aperture value cannot be freely selected. The photo camera comes with a fixed lens. Very many of the current cameras have a zoom function. However, this functionality does not exist in this model. The closest focusing distance is 120 cm. This minimum distance must be maintained for sharp pictures.
A flash is not missed on this model. It turns on automatically during shooting. This is also necessary, especially for indoor shots, because the camera needs a lot of light for good pictures.
Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 American Chicle Group
Of great importance for the instant camera are the corresponding photo films. The camera manufacturer, the US company Polaroid, no longer produces film material. A new company is producing films for the film format again.
There is a color and black-and-white film for the 600 format. The name of the color film is Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Black and white photographers and monochrome lovers choose the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. How do the films perform in tests? Both films perform convincingly in many test situations.
You’ll find eight photos in a box. The instant films are very sensitive to light. Contact with light before shooting should therefore be avoided. For longer storage, one should find a place that is dry. Also, it should not be stored too warm.
As prescribed in the standard, a picture is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest of the image is white. Available are also editions of Polaroid films with colorful frames.
Batteries
What type of batteries are needed for the Polaroid camera? In this type of camera, the power source is found in the film cassette. The disposable battery contains the necessary power for the camera technology with flash. So changing the film also provides a new battery. An additional battery is not necessary.
If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Of course, without sufficient power supply, the camera will no longer work. In this case, you simply need to remove the film and replace it with fresh film stock.
How to use the Polaroid Spirit 600 American Chicle Group
How to use the instant camera? A clear instruction manual on how to use the instant camera.
First of all, you need to load the film. To do this, push the small slider on the side forward. This opens the film door. Now the cassette with the film material can be inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The light-proof film over the film cassette is now automatically removed from the camera.
Now it’s time to take the picture. To do this, aim the camera at the subject and press the shutter release button. The motor in the camera ejects the image. Now the photochemistry starts to develop the image. After a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.
Alternative Cameras
If you can’t locate the camera, you can opt for alternatives. The Polaroid One Step Flash would be a first alternative that one could choose. It has the same features. Also, it uses the same film stock.
However, one might want to try something new. Two instant cameras are the Instax Mini 8* and Instax Mini EVO*. Again, you can still easily purchase the film stock.
