The Polaroid Nevue is an instant camera. The range of functions of the model is congruent with the Polaroid 600 (round above). The model is the result of a collaboration with Shiseido. Of course, new copies are no longer produced today.

This edition was made for the Shiseido company. Shiseido is a Japanese manufacturer of cosmetics in the luxury segment, as well as skin, hair and body care products. The edition of the Polaroid camera comes with a colorful exterior. The colors chosen are white, orange and light green.

The Polaroid Nevue impresses with its easy user interface. Most of the setting options found on other camera types have been omitted here. The easy handling results in a low entry barrier and thus numerous possibilities for application areas. For example, it’s great for parties and weddings. It’s also a great companion on vacation.

Exposure settings cannot be changed. The shutter speeds cannot be changed. The aperture value cannot be selected by the user either. The instant camera comes with a pre-installed fixed lens. The model does not have a zoom function. The closest focusing distance is 60 cm. This minimum distance has to be kept for sharp pictures.

A flash is not missed on this model. It is used automatically. Especially in low light conditions, one is often grateful for the flash.

Films for the Polaroid Nevue

Quite important for the Polaroid camera are the appropriate photo films. The manufacturer of the camera, the company Polaroid from the USA, has given up the production of film material. A new company from the Netherlands has been offering suitable film material again since 2010.

When choosing the film, you can choose between two options, a color and a black and white film. Not a bad choice for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. For classic black and white images, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is suitable. In different test reports, both usually get a good resume.

One pack contains eight pictures. Since the film material is sensitive to light, it must not come into contact with it outside the camera. Unexposed film should be stored in a dark and dry place.

As prescribed in the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is reserved for the actual image. The rest is filled by a white area. Are white frames too boring? Then there are also editions with colorful frames.

Batteries

What batteries are necessary for the Polaroid Nevue? In the cassette, in addition to the unexposed film material, there is also a battery for the camera. It feeds the camera with the necessary energy to take photos. So changing the film also provides a new battery. Additional batteries are not necessary for the camera.

The film cassette including the battery should not be disposed of in household waste. The battery should be recycled properly.

Instructions for the Polaroid Nevue

How to take photos with the instant camera? A little guide on how to use the camera.

First, you need to insert the instant film. To do this, slide the slider on the side forward so that the film door opens. The next step is to insert the film material and close the camera again. The camera now ejects the protective cover of the film.

Now you can take a picture. The photo motif is captured on the instant image by pressing the shutter release button. You can get a foretaste through the viewfinder on the back. The camera’s motor ejects the image. Now the photo chemistry starts developing the image. Within a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.

Similar models

If one cannot locate the camera, one can opt for alternatives. One option that would come to mind would be the Polaroid 600 (round above). It has the same features and requires the same films.

A new angle is brought by other camera manufacturers. Two instant cameras that are not Polaroid are the Instax Mini 9* and Instax Mini 90*. Fresh film stock can still be purchased for these cameras as well.
