The Polaroid Camel is a photo camera. It belongs to the group of instant cameras. The range of functions of the model is congruent with the Polaroid One Step Flash. It was created in collaboration with Camel. Camel is a cigarette brand of the American company R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. The famous camel is located with the logo lettering next to the lens of the camera. The housing is in black and yellow.

The Polaroid Camel is extremely user-friendly. If you are used to many settings on your camera, you won’t find them on this model. The ease of use allows for a low barrier of entry and thus many possibilities for areas of use. For example, it is well suited for parties and weddings. It is also a good choice for vacations.

The most important settings are fixed on the camera. Free selection of shutter speed and aperture is not possible. The instant camera is equipped with a pre-installed lens. A zoom, as found in smartphones, is not available in this model. To zoom, you have to get closer to your subject. The smallest focusing distance is 120 cm. This minimum distance must be maintained for the sharpest possible photos.

Does the Polaroid camera offer a flash? Yes, the instant camera has a built-in flash. It is used automatically. In low light conditions, the flash is especially valuable.

Is there a self-timer function? No, there is no such function.

Films for the Polaroid Camel

Quite important for the Polaroid Camel are the appropriate photo films. The manufacturer of the camera, the American company Polaroid, has stopped production. Do not worry, you can buy films for the old cameras again.

Both a color film and a black and white film for the camera are available. The appropriate choice for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. For monochrome pictures, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is necessary. In test reports, both films perform well.

You can find eight images in one pack. The films are extremely sensitive to light. Therefore, it should not come into contact with light outside the camera. The film material should be stored in the dark and dried.

Each of the eight images measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area of the Polaroid image is white. Editions with colored frames are also offered.

You can’t use Fujifilm’s films with the camera.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the instant camera? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the plastic case. It feeds the camera with the necessary energy to take pictures. So replacing the film also provides a fresh power source. There is no need for another separate battery for the instant camera.

The disposable battery should not be disposed of with the film cassette in the household waste. It is better to take the plastic cassette or battery to an appropriate local drop-off location.

Tutorial for the Polaroid Camel

How to use the instant camera? A short tutorial on how to use the Polaroid Camel.

The first step is to insert the film. To do this, slide the slider on the side forward and open the film door. Then insert the film cassette and close the flap again. The next operation is done automatically by the camera. It removes the protective film from the film.

The camera is now ready to take the desired picture. On the side of the housing you will find the release button. The development of the image begins after the motor has transported the image out. After a short waiting period, the process of development is complete. Then you can look at the final result.

Alternatives

If one does not find this model, it is advisable to resort to other options. As a first alternative, one can choose the Polaroid One Step Flash. The range of features is the same, of course, as well as the instant films.

However, one may want to try something new. Two potential choices are the Instax Mini 11* and Instax Mini 90*. The films for these instant cameras are still being manufactured new and sold online by many vendors.
