The Polaroid 780 is an instant camera. It has the same functionality as the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners). Today, of course, this camera is no longer built.

The Polaroid 780 stands out for its ease of use. If you are used to a lot of setting options on your camera, you probably won’t find them on this model. The uncomplicated handling allows for a low entry threshold and thus many possible areas of use. It is suitable for parties, for example, and also cuts a good figure at weddings. The camera is also a great travel companion on vacation.

The most important settings are already set. There is no free choice of shutter speed and aperture. The photo camera is equipped with a fixed lens. Many of today’s cameras have a zoom function. This function is not present in this model. 60 cm should not be undercut in order to achieve the clearest possible result when taking pictures.

The instant camera is provided with a built-in flash. It switches on automatically during the exposure. This is also necessary, especially for indoor shots, since the camera requires a lot of light for successful pictures. A self-timer is not integrated.

Films for the Polaroid 780

Of course, for the use of the Polaroid 780, the appropriate film material is also needed. The production of the original consumable material has been ended in the meantime. But do not worry, since the year 2010, films for the old 600 cameras are made available again.

There is film material for color photos and monochrome images. The appropriate choice for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. For classic black-and-white images, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is suitable. In different test reports, both usually get a good resume.

Eight pictures are possible with one pack. The film material is light-sensitive and should therefore not come into contact with light before exposure. For the storage of unexposed film material, one should look for a cool and dry place.

Since the development of the film format, a picture is 10.8 x 8.8 cm in size. The recorded scene can be found on an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. All the remaining space of the Polaroid picture is white. However, there is also edition with colorful frames.

Do the Instax films fit the Polaroid instant camera? No, the Fujifilm films are not compatible.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the Polaroid camera? With this type of camera, the power source is found inside the plastic case. It contains enough power for all unexposed images in the film cassette. Even when the flash is used. So replacing the film also serves as replacing the power source. It is the only power source that the camera requires.

If the camera has been stored for a long time, for example in the basement, the battery in the film cassette may have discharged. Of course, in the absence of sufficient power supply, the camera will no longer work. In this case, you simply need to remove the film and replace it with fresh film stock.

Instructions for the Polaroid 780

How to use the instant camera to take pictures? A quick guide to taking photos with the Polaroid 780.

First of all, you need to load the instant film. To do this, slide the slider forward on the side to open the film door. The next step is to load the film material and close the camera again. Now the camera ejects the protective cover of the film.

The camera is now ready to take the desired picture. Hold the camera on the subject and press the release button. The motor in the camera now ejects the instant image and development starts. Within a few minutes, the development process is complete and you can view the final result.

Alternative Options

If you can’t locate the camera, you can opt for alternatives. The Polaroid One Step (rounded corners) would be a first option that one could choose. It comes with the same feature set and needs the same film stock.

If it can be a different film format, there is a wider selection of different instant cameras. Two models are the Instax Mini 8* and LomoInstant Wide*. Fresh film stock can still be purchased for the cameras.
