The Polaroid 600 Hello Kitty Perfectly Pink is an instant camera. It was introduced by Retrospekt in January 2024.
The camera is based on the original Polaroid One Step Flash and has undergone a comprehensive overhaul and functional test before being given a new look. The design features Hello Kitty motifs, as you might expect from the name. This is not the first collaboration between Retrospekt and Sanrio, the Japanese company behind Hello Kitty.
Design of the camera
The Polaroid camera is a soft pink colour reminiscent of strawberry milk. A large Hello Kitty motif is emblazoned on the front, making the camera a real eye-catcher.
Hello Kitty sits in the centre of a white heart surrounded by a delicate floral pattern. Her characteristic red bows adorn her ears, while she wears a cheerful expression on her face.
The rest of the camera is in a plain white colour. Only the “Polaroid” lettering on the top and the flash on the front stand out in colour.
Overall, the camera looks very playful and girly. The Hello Kitty motif adds a nostalgic touch, while the pink and white colours exude a certain lightness and elegance.
Features of the camera
The camera has a fixed lens with no zoom option or adjustable focus. Exposure settings are automatically taken from the built-in light meter, while the light/dark slider on the front allows easy adjustments.
The limited setting options ensure user-friendly handling and enable the user to take photos with the camera independently after a short briefing.
The built-in flash provides sufficient light for taking pictures and triggers automatically. The power required for the camera and flash comes from a battery in the film cassette, which is replaced every time the film is changed. Additional batteries are not required for photography.
Films for the Polaroid 600 Hello Kitty Perfectly Pink
No films are included with the instant camera, these must be purchased separately.
The matching films for the Polaroid 600 Hello Kitty Perfectly Pink are still available, including both black and white and colour films. The colour film is called Polaroid Color Film for 600*. The Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is required for monochrome pictures with the instant camera.
A film cassette contains eight images and users must insert a new cassette once this has been used up. Film material is not included in the scope of delivery. The development time varies between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the film.
