Photo Hall de Luxe 100 is a color negative film. It was sold in Hungary by the photo dealer Photo Hall. The material in the cartridge was produced by a major film manufacturer. There are speculations that this manufacturer is Ferrania.

The de Luxe 100 is designed for color images. The recommended film speed to which the film should be exposed is ISO 100, and you can get good results with an ISO of 100 in everyday use, as this value is supported by most light meters.

Using expired film

It is likely that most film stock has passed the manufacturer’s expiration date, as fresh film stock is no longer produced. Although the manufacturer’s expiration date has passed, the film can still be used.

Decreasing sensitivity to light may occur with older film and depends on storage. Using the specified ISO value may result in underexposed photos. Therefore, it is advisable to set a lower ISO value on the camera.

Photos taken on expired color film may exhibit changes in color quality, hue shifts, and increased film grain. The quality of subsequent images may be affected by the conditions under which the unexposed film stock is stored.

Developing the film

To obtain images from an exposed film, it is necessary to develop the film after it has been shot, if you are still working with a roll of film today. Development in the C-41 process is essential for this. Most photo labs in Germany offer such a development for color negative films. The C-41 process is a standardized development process.

Alternatively, one can also undertake the processing of the analog film oneself to end up with film strips with the captured images as the result.

Availability and alternatives

The Photo Hall de Luxe 100 was offered for on the 35mm format. Typically, 36 photos fit on a roll of film. The cartridge of the film was DX encoded. It is possible to purchase suitable cameras for the 35mm format from various manufacturers such as Contax, Porst or Fujifilm.

The color film is no longer produced in the meantime. For 35mm cameras, an alternative to this film would be the Kodak Gold 200*. This is a solid color film that is a good choice for weddings or even vacation pictures.
