Ferrania

Ferrania S.p.A. is a film manufacturer from Ferrania (Liguria).

In 1923 the company started the production of photographic films, papers and other products. In 1964 Ferrania was bought by 3M and was sold more often. Mainly the films were sold under the brand “Solaris” and under other house brands and the like. Until 2007 Ferrania was still producing Instamaticfilm.

In addition to films, the company also produced cameras. The status of the company is somewhat unclear. But it is very likely that the film production was terminated. Meanwhile, other products (paper for printers) are sold under the Ferrania brand.

In 2013, it was announced that they wanted to resume film production in Italy. Let’s see what will become of this project, the films (Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 100 and Scotch Chrome 100 by IMATION) were announced for 2014.
