Moment Everything Sling Review

The search for the perfect camera bag continues. This time, we’re looking at a bag, or rather two bags, that aren’t dedicated camera bags, but rather are designed for everyday use.

Moment Everything Sling 4L vs. 2L

The Everything Sling is offered by the American company Moment. It is available in 1L, 2L, and 4L sizes. In this review, we’re looking at the 2L and 4L versions. You can choose between black, olive, navy, and gray.

The Moment Everything Sling presents itself as an unobtrusive and stylish companion for everyday life and short trips. Its modern, timeless design without large logos avoids the typical camera bag look.

I particularly liked the beautiful shade of green (olive) combined with the matte fabric of the bag and the slightly shiny strap. The color palette could be expanded with some brighter options, as is the case with the 1L version.

Both the 2L and 4L versions of the Everything Sling are made of robust and water-resistant materials. The exterior is made of 420D high-density micro-ripstop nylon with a double waterproof coating, which gives the bag high resistance to abrasion and tearing. The interior is made of 200D polyester, also with a double waterproof coating, providing additional protection for your gear from moisture.

The material of the bag repels rain very well. However, the zippers on both models are not waterproof. If exposed to water for a long time, water can penetrate the interior of the bag. This especially affects the bag’s large compartments, which usually also contain the camera. In heavy rain, it’s best to wear the bag under your rain jacket or protect it with a plastic bag.

The Moment Everything Sling 2 l

moment-everything-sling-2l-review-1

The Moment Everything Sling 2 l measures 29.25 × 14.5 × 7.5 cm and weighs 315 grams. It offers a total of four compartments. The bright interior lining makes it easy to find items even in low-light conditions.

The front compartment is padded and suitable for UV filters, a smartphone, or sunglasses. There’s also a small divider.

Next is the main compartment. You’d carry your analog camera in this compartment. It offers space for two compact cameras (such as a Yashica T5 or Revue 35 FC). An Instax Mini or smaller SLR would also fit inside.

Integrated into the main compartment is a small slip pocket, ideal for memory cards, button cells, or similar items. A Velcro fastener would be desirable for securing this, as the compartment doesn’t close very well. There are also two side pockets in the main compartment for small items like batteries or film canisters, and a hidden pocket for an AirTag.

Behind this, there’s a small pocket, for a notebook, or you can place your smartphone there. The last pocket is on the back and is intended for a passport or similar items.

The many compartments are a real plus. This makes it easy to keep track of things and find everything quickly. Perhaps smaller compartments would be desirable (for both bags), such as a pocket for coins, small batteries, or similar items.

The key chain in the main compartment/slide pocket seems a bit awkwardly placed to me – I’d prefer it to be in the front compartment. A small, lockable compartment for coins in the front compartment would also be a practical addition.

The zippers on both bags operate smoothly. The compartments with two zippers offer convenient access for both left- and right-handed users.

The soft carrying strap is comfortable to wear. The strap can be adjusted from a length of 76 to 170 cm. Shortening the strap is a bit fiddly, as the excess strap tends to slip. The oversized buckle also seems somewhat disproportionate to the bag’s size. The side compression straps also provide a good grip when lifting the bag.

The Moment Everything Sling 4L

moment-everything-sling-4l-review-3
moment-everything-sling-4l-review-10
moment-everything-sling-4l-review-2

The Moment Everything Sling 4L is, of course, similar to the 2L version in many respects. It measures 28 × 15.25 × 9.5 cm and weighs 408 grams when empty.

The 4L version offers more storage space and improves on some of the smaller version’s features. Adjusting the strap is significantly faster and easier. The flexible connection between the strap and the bag ensures optimal adaptation to the body. An additional handle loop, like the compression straps on the 2L version, would be desirable.

The 4L version also comes with four lockable compartments. However, these are divided slightly differently. On the front is the compartment for a power bank, keys, headphones, and similar items. Above it is a compartment for sunglasses or pens.

The main compartment is padded along the long sides. A divider allows it to be divided into two halves. The small compartments on the side and the slip pocket have been omitted. Instead, there is a separate section for a Nintendo Switch. Of course, other game consoles, a notebook, or similar items will also fit in here.

The main compartment is significantly larger and can therefore accommodate a compact camera and a prime-lens SLR. You can also carry multiple rolls of film.

A medium format camera like an Adox Golf or a Holga 120 will also fit. Those who like instant cameras can also store their Fujifilm Instax Mini in the Moment Everything Sling 4L, and a combination of a Fujifilm X100 and a disposable camera is no problem either.

The last compartment is the “passport pocket” on the back.

Both bags have a practical attachment point for a tripod, a small umbrella, or a thin jacket on the bottom. However, the hook closure is a bit too loose and could be replaced with a carabiner. It would also be nice if the attachment point could be removed when not in use.

What a fantastic overview! I really appreciate the detailed breakdown of each compartment and the practical items that fit. The bright interior lining is such a genius touch for finding things quickly – it’s often overlooked in bag designs. I also found the suggestion about making the tripod/umbrella attachment point removable when not in use very insightful. That kind of modularity would truly elevate an already well-designed sling. It’s clear a lot of thought went into maximizing space and accessibility here.

Here’s my comment again in English for English-speaking readers.

    Hello,
Thank you so much for this incredibly helpful and detailed review! I have to say, your post was the deciding factor in why I finally ordered the Moment Everything Sling. I’d been looking for a bag for so long that didn’t immediately scream “camera bag!” but was still functional and made my everyday life easier.

Your comparison of the 2L and 4L versions was invaluable. I hesitated between the two for a long time. Without your detailed descriptions and the many photos, I probably would have opted for the smaller version and probably regretted it. Thanks to your analysis of what fits in it, I decided to go for the 4L in olive – and I love it! The olive green is actually even more beautiful in person than you’d imagine from most of the product images, just as you described. The combination of the matte fabric and the slightly shiny strap looks really classy. So thank you again!

    always wondered about these bags.

This was a really thorough breakdown! I appreciate the detail on the materials and compartment layouts. My main takeaway is the non-waterproof zippers. While the bags are described as water-resistant, for a ‘camera bag’ (even if it’s disguised), that seems like a pretty significant vulnerability, especially with electronics. Have you found this to be a real issue in light to moderate rain, or is the ‘wear under your jacket’ advice truly the main workaround for any kind of wet weather? It makes me hesitate for outdoor shoots.
