Yashica T5

The Yashica T5 is a 35mm camera. It was built by Kyocera Coperation and sold under the “Yashica” brand. In terms of functions, it is identical to the Yashica T4 Super and the Kyocera T Proof.

Equipped with a powerful Carl Zeiss Tessar 35mm f/3.5 lens, the Yashica T5 impresses with its automatic functions in the areas of exposure and focusing of the lens, while offering a close focusing distance of 35 cm to capture even the smallest details.

Another outstanding feature of the Yashica T5 is its integrated flash, which can be activated automatically, used as a fill light or switched off completely as required. The camera also has a special mode that is particularly suitable for capturing picturesque landscapes, allowing you to take your photography skills to a new level.

The Yashica T5 is powered by a CR123A battery (eBay / Amazon*), which ensures reliable and long-lasting performance. For razor-sharp and steady shots, you can mount the camera on a tripod as there is a corresponding thread. The camera also offers a self-timer, which allows you to easily take group photos where you are in the picture.

Films for the Yashica T5

The Yashica T5 takes its pictures on 35mm film. Films of this format are still readily available today and are still developed. Possible films for the compact camera from Japan are the Kodak Gold 200* and the AgfaPhoto APX 400*.

In most photo labs, color films are usually developed using the C-41 process. In addition, many photo labs offer the option of making direct prints of the photographs, so that one has, for example, pictures from a trip or vacation directly in hand. Furthermore, one can digitize the negatives in order to edit or archive them on the computer.

Black-and-white films require a different development process, with different options depending on the film. Black and white film development is also offered by most professional photo labs. When choosing a developer, there are many options for B&W films.

If you want, you can also do the development yourself. The necessary chemistry and accessories can be purchased online. If you do the development yourself, you have full control over all the development steps and can get the best results from the combination of camera and film.

The exposure area of the Yashica T5 is 24 mm x 36 mm. With a normal film (135-36), 36 photos are usually possible. The film in the 35 mm camera is automatically advanced to the next frame.

The images were taken with a Yashica T5 and a Lomography Color Negative 400. Development was done in the C-41 process and digitization was done with a Canoscan 9000F (eBay / Amazon*).
